A) Take one to two strawberries and put them into ziplock bag. Add a bit of water and
seal the bag. Get as much of the air out as you can.
B) Smash strawberries until you don’t have any chunks
Reason: This breaks up cells walls
C) Put 3-4 drops of soap into bag and squish and mix more
Reason: The nuclear membrane is broken down with the soap releasing the DNA
D) Pore all into a test tube. Leave 2 inches from top (min)
Add cold alcohol 1-inch
Reason: Because DNA is lighter than the Alcohol (buoyancy) it will float to top
The white stuff on the top and floating is the DNA
