COMMUNITY LEADERS TAKE PART IN “PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY” EVENT THAT SUPPORTS HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS MARCH 6

CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA  Business and community leaders from across the San Gabriel Valley will learn what it is like to be a school principal as they support schools and student scholarships at the annual “Principal for a Day” event set for March 6, 2014. Schools across Bassett, Hacienda La Puente, Rowland Unified School Districts, and the La Puente Valley Regional Occupational Program open up their doors and invite community leaders to be “guest” principals that morning. 

A complimentary luncheon is held at 11:30 a.m. at the Industry Hills Expo Center with special guest speaker Alysha Del Valle, traffic reporter for KABC-TV Channel 7 Eyewitness News.

Thanks to corporate sponsors, 10 high school scholarships, three Adult Education scholarships and one ROP scholarship are presented at the Principal for a Day Luncheon. “Guest principals” tour elementary, intermediate and high schools – as well as adult schools – in the communities of Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, La Puente, City of Industry, Walnut and West Covina.

 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.           PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY AWARDS LUNCHEON                                                    (Industry Hills Expo Center – Pavilion located at 16200 Temple Ave., City of Industry)

A complimentary luncheon is provided for guest principals, with entertainment by Workman High School Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Maurice Limón. The Masters of Ceremony are Donald Sachs, Executive Director of the Industry Manufacturers Council and Heidi L. Gallegos, Board President of the Rowland Unified School District. Principal for a Day is considered the region’s most comprehensive annual outreach program for business and education partnership.
