Get ready to view Medieval art, clothing and weapons such as catapults, crossbows, battle axes and jousting lances created by the hands of 7th graders! Stanley G. Oswalt Academy will host their tremendously popular “Medieval Museum Night” tomorrow, November 20 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Started in 2008, the “Medieval Museum Night” is a culminating event for students at the end of their study of Medieval Europe. Students work with a partner and have three weeks to do research and ultimately become an expert on their topic. They build an artifact or a 3-D display for the museum and present. Projects range from knights, to weapons, to significant people from the Middle Ages.
“If it existed then, you're likely to find the students' version on display in our museum,” says Mrs. Cheryl Wendel, Oswalt Academy 7th Grade lead teacher. “Students dress and "speak" from that time period, and the goal is for students to educate those in attendance by fielding questions. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to share what they've learned and take pride in their efforts!”
