Hello Oswalt parents and students, I would like to welcome you to another school year. My name is April Ortiz and I will be your child's 8th grade English teacher this 2018-2019 school year. I have been teaching for 13 years and have had the pleasure to teach  at Oswalt for 7 of those years. I have experience in working with second language learners and students with diverse needs. I hold a Master in Science in Education from Cal State Fullerton. I strongly believe in teaching my students creative and critical thinking skills. The concept of critical thinking is teaching them how to think not what to think and encourage them to question and make meaningful connections. I am very excited to start this school year and look forward to meeting all of you.
