Electro Magnet
Does an Electric field make a magnetic field?
4:00 (video)
Test : 1) Does the battery or wire affect the compass?
2) Put it in a circuit. Attach wire and battery (If it gets too hot detach)
Is the compass affected by any of the objects? (Wire , Battery)
3) What if you break the circuit? Compass affected?
EQ: How does the number of winds of wire on a bolt make a difference in the strength of an electromagnet?
Test: Supplies 1.5 volt battery, bell wire, Bolt, paper clips
Video (4:40)
Game: How many paper clips can you string together in the air using different amounts of winds?

Assignment
How does Magnetism work?
- Watch video
- Video on the explanation of how magnetism works?
During the video have wire, magnets, compass to have hands on experience
1) watch video
- Draw the magnetic fieild
- Using the compass (video 3:00)
1) Find the north & south sides of the bar magnet (Draw it)
2) Find the north & south sides of a circle magnet (draw it)
3) (explain how you figured it out)
1) Using the idea of Protons (+) and Electrons (-) that you have learned before:
Explain (draw). why one way it attracts and the other it pushes away.
- How many can you attach?
- Now try it with the round magnets.
- Now put round and bar together and see how many you can attach.
- What is going on between the paper clips and magnets? (explain Draw)
- Are the paper clips magnets?
- What is going on that makes the paper clips stick to each other

- B) Pushing around a can youtube video
Project:
Explain the following questions through videos you record. ( test within the class)
You must use at least 2 videos to help explain answers to questions
- Explain where static electricity comes from
- Is there a way to determine if something is negatively or positively charged
- Explain the similarities and differences of lightning and static electricity
- Is there any real-world uses for Static Electricity?
- What does this make you wonder about
- What was the coolest thing you learned about Static Electricity?
- Overall: How well it is put together. Extras, Music, Clean
