About me

Hello My name is Sandra Batres. Students call me Ms. Sandra. I am one of the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) School Counselor. I support the after school community at five different elementary schools and academies within our Rowland Unified School District. Oswalt Academy is one of the amazing sites that I serve and I will be on site every Tuesday. My work includes monthly whole program social-emotional learning (SEL) lessons as well as individual, small-group counseling support based on need after school and parent workshops.

Elementary school counselors understand and promote success for all students. In our ELO-P counseling program, we teach and implement academic and social-emotional skills in ways that are developmentally appropriate for each grade and age stage. Through our interactive lessons on emotional regulation, perseverance, empathy, and anti-bullying (to name a few), we begin to instill valuable character traits that students need to be successful in their academic, social-emotional, and career goals.

I am a proud product of Rowland Unified School District. Rowland Unified has been my home since Kindergarten and I am excited to be serving the community that helped shape me. I look forward to another year of partnering with Oswalt families for student success! Please visit the ELOP Counselors website in the link section to the right for more information on who the ELO-P Counselors are and the communities we serve. I look forward to meeting you at one of our upcoming parent workshops!
