The theme of this unit is: Where We Are In Place and Time
 
Its CENTRAL IDEA is that individuals can inspire us to make a positive difference in the World
 
 
During this unit students will inquire about: 
 
1. People who have made a positive difference in the World. 
 
2. Why and how people implement change. 
 
3. Who inspires you and why? 
 
**AT HOME you can make a difference by discussing these inquires with your child. 
 
1. What people in history have made a difference? 
 
2. How did they make a difference and how does their work       inspires us? 
 
3. What problems do we face today that necessitate change?

Biographies for Students: Houghton Mifflin Social Studies
This is a great site for students to gather facts about various people who have made a difference in history. It includes a short comprehension check area after reading. :)

2. Then click on the box labeled biographies and choose from a number of famous people. 

** Remember! Make the most of the visit by investigating the various activities connected to the movie on the bottom of the famous person video screen. 

BONUS: Any printed out tests results or created activity pages will be given extra credit points towards your child's social studies grade. :)

2. Then click on the box labeled famous historical figures and choose from a large number of famous people. ** These videos may have more challenging vocabulary for your child to understand than those on the Brainpop Jr. website. 

** Remember! Make the most of the visit by investigating the various activities connected to the movie on the bottom of the famous person video screen. Take special note of the FYI section. It has a variety of extra facts about the video subject listed on different tabs.
